Arquus supports the French DGA (Direction générale de l’armement, General Directorate of Armaments) and the French army in the development of a new French self-defense capability against drones. The project is based on the proven technological building blocks of the Scorpion program and the Hornet T1 turret.
This approach is part of an agile innovation dynamic based on a national turret industry that has been established and structured for more than ten years. It aims to quickly offer land forces an effective solution adapted to evolving threats.

The widespread use of drones in operational areas requires new, fast and flexible response options, according to Arquus.
Hornet Air Guard
The Hornet Air Guard initiative, based on the T1 turret already in use on the French army vehicles Griffon and Serval, is part of this context. It was mentioned by the Chief of the Army Staff at his press conference last September, underlining the armed forces’ commitment to developing concrete solutions based on proven equipment.
Hornet gun turrets
The Hornet series turrets developed and produced by Arquus have been qualified by the French Army as part of the Scorpion program. These new-generation turrets equip the Griffon and the Jaguar, which are among the French Army’s newest vehicles.
The Arquus Hornet turrets can be equipped with fully automatic weapons in caliber 7.62 millimeters (1,000 rounds), 12.7 millimeters (300 rounds) and 40 millimeters (64 rounds) as well as smoke launchers. The turrets are equipped with electronics under armor, electro-optical and infrared imaging and remote control. Gyro stabilization and automatic tracking of moving targets enable a high hit probability.
