The soldiers of Armored Infantry Battalion 13 are at the Hochfilzen training area this week and next. This week, an important milestone was on the agenda for the grenade launcher platoon: live firing with around 40 recruits from the January enlistment date.
Intensive training
Intensive training on the medium and heavy grenade launcher has been underway since mid-March – the young soldiers have now been able to put their skills to the test in live firing. What counts here in particular is teamwork. “With every shot, not only do the skills grow, but also the team spirit in the squad,” says one of the Rieder Panzergrenadiere training participants.

Armored Infantry Battalion 13
The soldiers of Panzergrenadier Battalion 13 can fight from their infantry fighting vehicles as well as dismounted when they are on foot. The battalion not only provides infantry forces, but also massive firepower thanks to its “Ulan” infantry fighting vehicles. This makes the battalion flexible and versatile – and it can also be deployed in urban environments.
