The “Airpower” is returning from a three-year cycle to a two-year cycle: after 2022, the Austrian Armed Forces will be hosting the next edition of the mega air show at Hinterstoisser Air Base on 6 and 7 September 2024 together with its partners, the Province of Styria and Red Bull.

Great interest: A total of 275,000 visitors took part in “Airpower 2024”.

“Airpower 2024” will consist of a military performance show on the ground, as well as demonstrations by the Austrian Air Force and international military aerobatic teams, the Flying Bulls and participants from the civil aviation sector, a static display by civilian exhibitors from the aviation industry, research and education, as well as an extensive supporting event on the airfield grounds, including the Military Aviation Museum. Participation will also be free of charge for visitors in 2024. Further details on Europe’s largest air show, in particular the display program and the improved traffic concept, will be presented this autumn.

Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner: “Together with our partners Red Bull and the Province of Styria, we are once again giving the region an important boost with ‘Airpower 2024’, especially in these difficult economic times.”

“More than 275,000 visitors to the event site and tens of thousands more aviation enthusiasts at the Hinterstoisser airbase, around nine million euros in added value for the region, a significant increase in overnight stays and a media advertising value of more than 3.5 million euros in national media alone – these are all impressive figures from the last Airpower 2022′ in Zeltweg. I am very pleased to announce that we are returning to the original two-year rhythm of the ‘Airpower’ events and that, together with our partners Red Bull and the Province of Styria, we will once again provide an important impetus in the region next year with ‘Airpower 2024’, especially in these difficult economic times,” says Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner.

“I am delighted to be able to announce that we are returning to the original two-year cycle of ‘Airpower’ events.

According to the Styrian state government, the “Airpower” weekend alone generates added value of around nine million euros in the Murtal region due to the additional demand in the tourism, leisure, retail and catering sectors. The Murtal was de facto fully booked for the 2022 event weekend, with all catering establishments in the region recording increased footfall and sales – even weeks in advance. https://militaeraktuell.at/das-war-die-airpower-2022-die-highlights/ Region impressively supports the event
In two representative survey waves (Austria-wide n = 1.000) and an additional representative survey in the Murtal and Upper Styria regions in mid-June 2022 (n = 258) and early September 2022 (n = 306), the Institute for Public Opinion Research and Data Analysis (IFDD) surveyed the attitudes of the population towards “Airpower” in Zeltweg. The result is clear: the region has a clear majority of almost 85% in favor of “Airpower”, compared to 81% across Austria.

As in the past, the Austrian Armed Forces are working together with the province of Styria and Red Bull on “Airpower 2024”.

“Airpower 2024” is an important driving force
“Styria is in the international spotlight with the major motorsport events in Spielberg, but also with the new staging of ‘Airpower’, Europe’s largest air show. This raises the profile of our province and the Mur Valley in particular as a tourist destination and also contributes directly to value creation in the region. Especially in economically difficult times, this is crucial, not least for the preservation of many jobs. As an important driving force for the region, the province of Styria will therefore once again support ‘Airpower 2024’ as a partner,” emphasize Governor Christopher Drexler and Deputy Governor Anton Lang. https://militaeraktuell.at/airpower-nachhaltigkeitsbericht-zeigt-co2-reduktion/ Red Bull: “An unforgettable experience for the whole family
“We are looking forward to a new chapter of ‘Airpower’ in 2024. Together with our partners, the Austrian Armed Forces and the province of Styria, we want to make the event an unforgettable experience for the whole family. Together with the many fans, we will celebrate the fascination of flying with the Flying Bulls,” says Red Bull.
