Even though thick clouds lay over the runway in the morning, this did nothing to dampen the spirits of the numerous fans on the first day of “Airpower 2024” at Hinterstoisser Air Base in Zeltweg. Numerous highlights could be seen in the sky above Zeltweg and the Flying Bulls also pulled out all the stops.
During the “Lift-off Legends” with the BO-105 helicopters, the Cobra and the Edge 540, there was a premiere to marvel at: a joint looping of two Flying Bulls helicopters, piloted by Felix Baumgartner and Mirko Flaim, had never been seen before. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bA0oMguVNyI “Sensational!” was how Olympic ski jumping champion Thomas Morgenstern, who was among the audience and is a helicopter pilot himself, summed it up. And added: “The ‘Airpower’ is the most spectacular thing I know in aviation.” The Flying Bulls Aerobatics Team from the Czech Republic was responsible for breathtaking images, dancing through the sky together with the Gripen of the Czech Air Force in a breathtaking choreography. The gliders of the “Red Bull Blanix” team – the quietest highlight of “Airpower 2024” – were as quiet as a whisper. The Saturday program of the Flying Bulls:
- Slot from approx. 9.25 a.m. – Dynamic Sky: Under the program item “Dynamic Sky” display by the Flying Bulls Aerobatics Team from the Czech Republic, the name says it all – formation flying at the highest level awaits.
- Slot from approx. 10.30 am – Aces of Aerobatics: The “Airpower 2024” will see the summit meeting of the two “Aces of Aerobatics” Luke Czepiela and Dario Costa.
- Slot from approx. 12.50 p.m. – Wings of Silence, the quietest highlight of “AirPower 2024”: The “Red Bull Blanix” team, which is already a regular guest at “Airpower” with its gliders, demonstrates that it is also possible to fly as quietly as a whisper.
- Slot from approx. 1.50 pm – Lift-off Legends: Clear the stage for the helicopters. The “Lift-off Legends” of the Flying Bulls offer a “dance of the rotors”.
- Slot from approx. 16.00 – Vintage Parade: The “Vintage Parade” proves that age is just a feeling. Behind it is the flight of a unique historical formation of the Flying Bulls.
