The legendary air show of the Swiss Air Force in the Bernese Oberland celebrates its comeback in 2027. After a three-year break – the last time the event took place was in 2023 – the spectacular airshoot on the Axalp is set to attract thousands of visitors once again.

The reason for the return is the planned budget increase for the army, which should also make room for public demonstrations again.

However, the question remains as to whether the Patrouille Suisse will make another appearance at the event. The Swiss aerobatic team currently flies the ageing F-5 Tiger, which is scheduled to be decommissioned in 2027. However, it is unclear whether the jets will still be available by then.

“The concept for the event is currently being developed and depends on various factors – including the decommissioning concept for the F-5,” an army spokeswoman told the Swiss media outlet “20 Minuten”.

It remains to be seen whether the Axalp comeback will also be the Patrouille Suisse’s last major appearance.
