On September 5, the Air Support Command instructed 80 managers from the Upper Austrian fire department districts of Wels-Land and Wels-Stadt in military tactics and firefighting, rescue and recovery measures for military aircraft at the Hörsching military airfield in order to prepare for operations in the event of aircraft emergencies or accidents and to ensure that operations are coordinated with civilian firefighters.
A similar event was already held in 2019 for fire department managers from the Linz-Land district. After completing this briefing, the deputy commander of the air support brigade, Colonel Georg Klecatsky, stated that the civilian fire departments in the approach and departure areas to/from Hörsching military airfield now have the necessary knowledge of operational tactics and firefighting, rescue and recovery measures for military aircraft in the event of an aircraft emergency or accident.
