Franz Achleitner-Fahrzeugbau und Reifenzentrum GmbH has signed a contract with Magirus GmbH for the sale of its subsidiary Achleitner Fahrzeugbau GmbH.
The traditional Tyrolean company has been known for decades for the development and production of protected vehicles for the police, military and special forces. For example, Achleitner was involved in the
delivery of GRF vehicles for the Austrian Hunting Command, which procured them
which procured them from the Dutch manufacturer Defenture. Achleitner acted as system partner for integration, configuration development and long-term service support. With the PMV Survivor II, the company also offers a modular high protection vehicle on a MAN chassis, while the

According to the company, the integration into the Magirus Group opens up the opportunity to “take our own development to a new level”. Magirus, in turn, speaks of an “important step in the expansion of the Defence business segment and a strengthening as a provider of specialized vehicle solutions”.
With the merger, both companies are expanding their product and service portfolio and at the same time consolidating their industrial footprint in Austria – a “strategically important market”, as the press release states. The international scaling is intended to open up new markets and accelerate innovation. The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of October 2025.
Achleitner CEO Ewald Gattermayr emphasizes: “In association with Magirus – a company with an international presence, 160 years of history and a clear growth strategy – Achleitner can expand its range in a targeted manner and scale internationally. This means a broader range of specialized vehicle solutions as well as long-term stability in cooperation with customers, suppliers, partners and our employees.”
At the same time, the integration opens up new opportunities to further develop structures, tap into additional capacities and sustainably strengthen the business.
