Rheinmetall has been contracted by the Emirate of Kuwait to supply 12 of the latest generation of Fuchs NBC armored reconnaissance vehicles. The order also includes extensive services in the areas of training, service and spare parts.
The Fuchs 2 NBC-RS vehicles are to be delivered from 2017. An accompanying service contract covers a period of five years, beginning with the commissioning of the first Fuchs 2 NBC-RS. The contractor is Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles GmbH (RMMV), in which Rheinmetall holds a majority stake of 51%. MAN Truck & Bus holds 49% of the shares in the company, which was founded in 2010 and is based in Munich. RMMV is a world-renowned supplier in the field of wheeled military vehicles and, in particular, a specialist in NBC defense systems.

We are pleased to be able to make a decisive contribution to this.” At the heart of the NBC Tracker is a comprehensive, fully integrated set of equipment for identifying NBC warfare agents and other hazardous substances, scaffolded in a highly protected, extremely all-terrain 6×6 transport vehicle. As a result of consistent further development, the NBC Tracker for Kuwait offers an additional biological detection function for the first time. This is another technological leap forward, made possible thanks to Rheinmetall’s extensive and long-standing expertise in this field, and underpins RMMV’s leading position in this market segment. For biological reconnaissance, RMMV will in future provide users with both the advanced NBC Tracker and an additional separate biological reconnaissance laboratory in a carrier platform of their choice, depending on their operational requirements. The NBC variant of the Fuchs/Fox tank, of which a total of over 1,200 have been built, has been successfully deployed in many crisis areas around the world. The almost 300 NBC Fuchs/Foxes produced to date have proven themselves many times over in the Bundeswehr, the US Army and the armed forces of the United Arab Emirates, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Norway and Saudi Arabia. The NBC defense forces of the Bundeswehr, Switzerland and Sweden also have mobile NBC field laboratories from Rheinmetall, which can be deployed by truck, train, ship or air transport. These field laboratories have proven to be very efficient worldwide in the detection of radiological, biological and chemical hazards. In the area of civil defense, Rheinmetall has delivered 397 NBC reconnaissance vehicles to the German fire departments. These vehicles make an effective contribution to ensuring that the civilian environment is also optimally prepared for such emergencies. To expand its product range in the field of mobile NBC reconnaissance, in summer 2014 RMMV presented the 4×4 “CBRN Survivor R” vehicle with an integrated NBC reconnaissance kit, developed in collaboration with Austrian vehicle manufacturer Achleitner.
