On March 21, a book presentation with Georg Reichlin-Meldegg and retired colonel Wolfgang Wildberger will take place at the Museum of Military History: “General Emil Spannocchi – a life portrait on the 25th anniversary of his death”.
Retired General Emil Spannocchi died after a tragic riding accident in Wiener Neustadt in 1992. His name was closely associated with the “concept of space defense” in the 1970s, which he was able to successfully communicate to politicians, the media and large sections of the population as the “Spannocchi Doctrine”. The book deals with the question of whether Spannocchi invented space defense or was just very good at presenting it, as well as his personal relationship with the political and military decision-makers of his time. No registration required, free admission to the book presentation from 6.30 pm.
