The officers of the Austrian Armed Forces invite you to the Officers’ Ball at the Vienna Hofburg on January 19. The motto of the 75th ball, “SoundS of Music”, is based on the world-famous musical, underlines the musical diversity of the ball night and also refers to the partnership with the Vermont National Guard. In addition to Minister of Defense Klaudia Tanner and Chief of Staff General Rudolf Striedinger, prominent guests from Germany and abroad are expected to attend.

The motto of the ball is based on the famous Broadway musical by Rodgers and Hammerstein, which focuses on the eventful history of the Trapp family: The successful naval officer Georg Ritter von Trapp, who leaves Salzburg with his family to escape the pressure of National Socialism, finds a new home in Vermont and becomes a successful musical ambassador for a non-existent Austria with his family choir. Carinthia’s military bandmaster, Colonel Pranter, will also create a great atmosphere on the piano with a “Tribute to Billy, Elton & Udo”. The ball is organized by the “Alt-Neustadt” association, an association of graduates of the Theresian Military Academy in Wiener Neustadt, which is also dedicated to social causes. The Officers’ Ball is an event with a long tradition. People from different social, professional and age groups come together for a social get-together.
